Region IV is also the home of 12 student branches. One of
these Student Branches is at Savannah College of Art and
Design in Savannah, Georgia and is the only student branch
in Society at an architectural college.
The Region is home to the Society Headquarters in Atlanta
and has also produced three Past Society Presidents. They
are the late David Rickleton whose home chapter was the Southern
Piedmont Chapter, Jack Chaddock from the Triangle Chapter,
and Barney Burroughs from the Atlanta Chapter.
Region IV has many awards to recognize some of the people
who have contributed to the success of the Region over the
years. The top award in the Region is the coveted Rudy Ferguson
Award which is given to the Chapter in the Region who obtains
the highest rating based on a point total as set up in the
criteria established by the Region Chair. Other Regional
awards include the Most Improved Chapter Award; the Arthur
Suggs Money Bags award which is also given to the top performing
Chapter in Research Promotion and the Buddy Williams Memorial
Award which is given to the Student Branch that achieves
the most in promoting the goals of ASHRAE on the college
and university level.
